Refuge Center for Counseling 10th Anniversary Celebration, Fundraising Dinner. The local nonprofit, which offers affordable counseling services to those in need, will hold the event at Jamison Hall at The Factory at Franklin, today,  6-9 p.m., and present its Hope Award to Al Andrews, founder and director of Porter’s Call. All proceeds will directly benefit the clients and programs of The Refuge Center for Counseling. Information:


Green Hills Branch Library Fall Book Sale

Friends of the Green Hills Library’s semi-annual Book Sale at 3701 Benham Avenue. Thousands of books, CDs and DVDs will be offered at the sale. Proceeds benefit the branch’s many community and children’s programs. 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Half-price sale will be held Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The traditional bag sale is set for Sunday, 2-4 pm. For $5, patrons can fill a grocery bag with books. Bags will be provided at the sale.

Dog Agility World Championships

More than one-thousand canines and their human teammates from around the globe are participating in this fun, fur-flying event, the Cynosport World Games. Lure coursing, dock diving and an Intro to Agility will be offered for Tennesseans and their dogs to get some “paws-on” experience in these canine activities.
