Nashville's Music Row statue 'Musica' to get fountains
NASHVILLE (AP) — A Nashville nonprofit has announced that the city's iconic Musica statue at the Music Row roundabout should soon be surrounded by choreographed water fountains.
Desmond Child, a music producer who leads The Fountains of Musica Foundation, told local media Thursday that a dancing water fountain had been part of artist Alan LeQuire's original intention for the statue, but there hadn't been enough funding. Considered to be the largest bronze figure group in the country, the statue was unveiled in 2003.
Child revealed an animated rendering of international company WET Design's vision. The company is best known for designing the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas.
The nonprofit intends to raise $10 million for maintenance and construction costs. The project is scheduled to be completed in fall 2017.
