Courtney joins Pilkerton Realtors

Veteran Realtor® Richard Courtney is joining Pilkerton Realtors, one of the oldest and largest independent real estate firms in Nashville, with offices in Green Hills and Brentwood.

Courtney will serve a dual role as broker of his real estate practice and director of recruiting and business development for Pilkerton Realtors’ Green Hills and Brentwood real estate offices.

He was formerly the managing broker of Fridrich & Clark Realty’s Music Row office.

A professional Realtor® in Nashville for more than 30 years, Courtney has served on the boards of the national, state and local Realtor® associations, and he is a past president and current board member of the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors. He is also a successful business author and columnist.

Avenue Bank promotes 3, adds four to team

Avenue Bank is announcing three promotions and the addition of four new associates.

Kevin Mills has been named as director of security. Mills previously served as vice president, bank support manager, and has 14 years of banking experience. Prior to joining Avenue Bank, Mr. Mills was with Union Planters and Regions banks. He received his Bachelor’s degree from MTSU.

Andres Tapia has been promoted to bank support manager. He has served as assistant vice president and branch manager at Cummins Station for the past four years. He has eight years of banking experience, including service at Union Planters and Regions. He has masters in business administration from Belmont University and a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Santi Tefel, previously a concierge banker for Avenue, is now a private client banker at the West End location. He is a graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., where he earned degrees in economics and finance and played on the tennis team.

Steven Sharp, a native Nashvillian, joins the Avenue team with nine years in the banking industry and serves as a mortgage loan originator at the Green Hills branch. Prior to joining Avenue, Mr. Sharp worked in the mortgage department at Countrywide Home Loans, Franklin Synergy, and F&M Bank.

Ginny Straub, a new private client banking assistant, graduated from the UT-Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Straub most recently served as assistant in treasury management sales at First Tennessee Bank.

Morgan Alexander is a concierge banker at the Cummins Station branch. She is a 2006 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in merchandising and a minor in management and marketing. Prior to Avenue Bank, Ms. Alexander was a part-time teller at Bank of America.

Jessica Caver is a concierge banker at the Cool Springs branch. She previously worked as a private banking assistant at Regions Bank. Ms. Caver graduated in 2008 from Auburn University with a degree in communications.

Summit Medical Center welcomes Beckham

Michael T. Beckham, M.D., a board certified internal medicine physician with Beckham Internal Medicine, is joining Summit Medical Center.

Beckham received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He then completed his residency in both internal medicine and primary care at the University of Tennessee-Memphis.

Capwealth Advisors hires investment officer

Independent investment advisory firm CapWealth Advisors LLC has added Phoebe J. Venable to its team of family investment professionals as managing principal. Venable joins a staff of professionals supporting the firm’s growing base of wealth management clientele throughout the region.

A chartered financial analyst charterholder, Venable comes to CapWealth from the Nashville office of GenSpring Family Offices, an independent wealth management firm for ultra-high net worth families. In 2009, Venable launched the Nashville location and was the investment advisor for client families in the Southeastern United States. She also served on the company’s national leadership team and conducted family member education programs across the United States.

She began her financial services career in 1987 with SunTrust Bank, later becoming an investment portfolio manager, providing money management services to Trust clients and high net worth families. She was promoted in 2002 to first vice president and private client advisor and in 2005 moved to SunTrust Bank in Nashville as managing director of private wealth management, also serving as part of the division’s senior leadership team.

Loventhal Insurance adds account executive

Loventhal Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. has added Charles ‘Jud’ Goldman, Jr. as account executive. Jud joins his father, Charles J. Goldman, president, and will be responsible for all lines of insurance including property and casualty, group and individual life and health insurance.

Jud was previously an intern (2009/2010) at Loventhal. He holds a B.S. in enterprise management from the University of Tennessee Business School..

Loventhal Insurance & Financial Services was established in 1990 and specializes in individual and group life, health, and disability insurance, along with financial and retirement planning.

Bass, Berry & Sims adds associate, counsel

Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is pleased to welcome new associate Tatjana Paterno and to announce that David W. Smith has been named Of Counsel in the firm’s Nashville Office.

Paterno joins the firm’s corporate practice after working four years as an associate at Jones Day in Dallas, Texas. Her experience includes mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, as well as public and private offerings of debt and equity securities. Tatjana’s experience also includes corporate governance, executive compensation, disclosure and securities law compliance.

She earned her law degree, summa cum laude, from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and received her B.A. in history, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Smith’s practice focuses on general commercial real estate transactions with a particular emphasis on leasing in the healthcare industry. He represents a variety of clients in the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and ownership of commercial properties including retail, restaurant and office buildings. David also has experience working with different types of healthcare providers, such as hospitals, surgery centers and physician groups, to meet their various real estate needs while ensuring regulatory compliance.

He earned his B.S. in foreign service from Georgetown University, magna cum laude, in 1992. Prior to pursuing law, David was a middle and high school teacher and a Teach For America corps member. He then attended Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as an articles editor for the Vanderbilt Law Review, and received his J.D. in 2001.

Dye, Van Mol announces promotions

Dye, Van Mol & Lawrence (DVL) recently announced the promotions of Molly Williamson and Michael Graham to account executive and assistant account executive, respectively.

Williamson has been promoted from assistant account executive to account executive. At DVL, she is a member of several account teams, ranging from real estate to sports and specializes in media relations and event/project management. She joined the agency in 2008.

Graham has been promoted from account service associate to assistant account executive. He has been with the agency since 2009 and is responsible for writing press materials, developing media relations strategies and executing successful special events for DVL clients.

Pablo joins conflict management group

Attorney Julie Randall Pablo has joined Consensus Conflict Management & Mediation Services, LLC, as a mediator. She became an associate with Consensus in January of this year.

Ms. Pablo is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Family and General Civil Mediator. She received her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and her B.A. from California State University-Fullerton, where she studied she studied sociology and psychology. She is a member of the State Bar of California, and is a licensed attorney in Tennessee.

Ms. Pablo will concentrate her mediation practice in family law. Prior to this, she was an attorney with the State of Tennessee for ten years, in the areas of education, health, children’s services and mental health. In California, she practiced insurance defense litigation. She also volunteered in the classroom, and with special needs children.
