10. Raines retiring as dean of Belmont’s business school -

Pat Raines, dean of Belmont University’s Jack C. Massey College of Business, has announced his retirement after 16 years of service to the school.

During Raines’ tenure, the school has received accolades from Princeton Review, BusinessWeek and Entrepreneurship magazine for having some of the top business programs in the country. The College of Business’s undergraduate enrollment has grown by more than 100%, and the graduate enrollment has increased by nearly 80%.

15. Lupinacci is now chairman, CEO of Baker Donelson -

Timothy M. Lupinacci has assumed the role of chairman and chief executive officer of Baker Donelson.

Lupinacci, who was elected as the incoming chairman and CEO by the firm’s board of directors in October 2018, assumes the role from Ben C. Adams, who has served as the firm’s chairman and CEO for the last 16 years. Adams is remaining with Baker Donelson and will continue his practice focused on estate planning and corporate law.

71. Nashville lawyer named TBA executive director -

The Tennessee Bar Association has named Nashville lawyer Joycelyn Stevenson as its new executive director.

A shareholder with Littler Mendelson PC with a practice focused on labor and employment law, Stevenson has been a leader in the Tennessee legal community, serving as president of both the Nashville Bar Association and the Lawyers’ Association for Women - Marion Griffin Chapter. She is the first African-American woman to lead both organizations and will be the first African-American woman to direct the TBA.

Brigid M. Carpenter has been named managing shareholder for the Nashville office of Baker Donelson, making her the first woman to serve in this position. She assumes the role previously held by Scott D. Carey for eight years.

77. Guard promotes attorney to brigadier general -

Kurt Winstead, a founding member of the Nashville law firm Rudy Winstead Turner, PLLC, has been promoted to brigadier general in the Tennessee National Guard.

Winstead began his career with the Tennessee National Guard in 1990 when he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corp. His first assignment was as the judge advocate general for the 194th Engineer Brigade, now headquartered in Jackson. Throughout his more than 26 years of service, Winstead has served in numerous assignments culminating as the senior staff judge advocate at the Joint Force Headquarters in Nashville.

Attorney Alex Fardon has joined Riley Warnock & Jacobson, PLC, and will continue to focus on commercial litigation.

Fardon was previously a shareholder and head of the Litigation Practice Group at H3GM. He began his career as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas A. Wiseman Jr., Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He is a past winner of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Justice Joseph W. Scott Cihak, chief executive officer of Kendall Regional Medical Center, an HCA facility in Florida, has been named CEO of HCA’s TriStar Centennial Medical Center, effective Nov. 28.

Cihak brings more than 20 years of executive leadership within HCA hospitals to his new role. While he was at Kendall, the facility won the Joint Commission Top Quality Award annually from 2011-2015, Truven Analytics Top 100 Hospital Award in 2012 and 2013 (Community Hospital) and 2016 (Teaching Hospital), Leap Frog Group Patient Safety “A” Rating in 2015 and 2016 and State of Florida comprehensive stroke facility approval.

Paul C. Ney, Jr. is joining the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office as chief deputy.
