Rural broadband backers such as Misty O’Beirne in Rutherford County can take heart. Legislation to spread high-speed internet into cyberspace deserts is making the right connections.

30. Uniguest names Morgan chief executive officer -

Uniguest, a provider of secure managed technology services, has announced the appointment of Joseph P. Morgan, Jr. as chief executive officer, effective July 6, 2015.

Morgan had served as president and chief executive officer of The Standard Register Company, a publicly traded company with revenues approaching $1 billion, since January 2009. At The Standard Register Company, he was responsible for the transformation of the printing giant to an integrated communications company leveraging both technology and innovation to develop a market-focused strategy. Morgan also served on the Board of Directors and held a number of community and charitable leadership positions during his tenure with the company.

31. Burchfield is new president of DSi -

John Burchfield has been promoted from executive vice president to president of the Nashville-based DSi, one of the nation’s leading electronic discovery service providers.

DSi’s gross annual revenue has nearly tripled since Burchfield was hired three years ago as vice president of business development, according to the company, with the employee count growing from 65 to 85 during the same period.

32. Mercedes moving headquarters from New Jersey to Atlanta -

German luxury automobile maker Mercedes-Benz said Tuesday that it's moving its U.S. headquarters from New Jersey to Atlanta, in part to be closer to its manufacturing facility in Alabama.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said the company accepted an incentive package from the state but said he couldn't discuss the details yet. The Fulton County Development Authority met briefly Tuesday to discuss its own incentive package for Mercedes' estimated $93 million facility but provided no details.

49. Holmes named Firstbank president -

Veteran banker and Lexington native Chris Holmes will become the third president of FirstBank since it was purchased by businessman Jim Ayers in 1984. Doug Cruickshanks, who has served as FirstBank president since 2002, will become vice chairman of the bank’s board of directors.
