49th annual Goodwill Awards Breakfast. Goodwill will honor individuals who have overcome adversity in order to obtain competitive employment, community employers, organizations and individuals whose support of and contributions allow the organization to provide employment opportunities for in people enrolled in Goodwill Industries-Knoxville employment training and rehabilitation programs. Tickets are $15 per person. Sponsorships are available. The Foundry on the Fair Site, 747 World’s Fair Park Drive, Knoxville. Wednesday, 8-10 a.m. $15 per ticket. Information

Orange & White Game

KMA Artists on Location

A reception for Artists on Location, A Plein Air Painting Event, will be held by the Guild of the Knoxville Museum of Art. Artwork will be on display and available for sale to attendees. A cash bar and light “bites” will be available. The event is free and open to the public. 5-8:30 p.m. Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 World’s Fair Park Drive, Knoxville. Information

JDRF Promise Gala

JDRF East Tennessee’s annual event will be part of a statewide virtual event called the JDRF Promise Gala in support of JDRF’s mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Registration Information

THURSDAY, APRIL 29

East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame

The gala, now in its 17th year, is a benefit for Friends of Literacy. The virtual event will honor outstanding local writers for their work and celebrates the richness and diversity of the written word in East Tennessee. The event also will include readings and performances by area writers. 7-8:30 p.m. $25 per person. Information

FRIDAY, APRIL 30

UT Gardens Virtual Gala

The event will hold its eighth annual fundraiser with honorary host Bill and Crissy Haslam, former governor and first lady of Tennessee, to benefit the academic and educational programs of UT Gardens in a virtual format. The 2021 event will honor Dr. Susan Hamilton, the director emerita of UT Gardens who retired after more than 35 years of service to the people and plants of Tennessee. With the theme of “Grow Big Orange,” the evening will be a fun one with a social happy half-hour, live program and silent auction. Additional details to come. Information

SATURDAY, MAY 1

Make-A-Wish Grandstand Classic

The event is a fundraiser to benefit Make-A-Wish East Tennessee and revolves around all things Kentucky Derby. The event includes live and silent auctions, music, cocktails and food with a live feed of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. Attire is cocktail, with Derby attire and hats encouraged. Make-A-Wish helps to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in the East Tennessee region. 5-9 p.m. Lighthouse Knoxville, 6800 Baum Drive. Information

Les Trois Chefs

An annual benefit for Childhelp Tennessee that includes a four-course meal complete with wine pairings and silent and live auctions. Les Trois Chefs begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and silent auction, followed by dinner and live auction from 8-10 p.m. Attire is business to cocktail. The event raises funds to support the programs and services of Childhelp in East Tennessee, which provides forensic services, medical exams and mental health counseling for victims of child abuse. Sertoma Center’s Annual Friendship Dinner

The dinner honors the 2021 Lifetime of Love recipients, Jenny and Randy Boyd, for their support of Sertoma and highlight their Scottish heritage with music, a Scottish menu and signature Scottish cocktail. The Sports Animal’s Jimmy Hyams and Phillip Fulmer, former University of Tennessee athletics director and head football coach, also will be in attendance at the socially distanced and outdoor event. 6-8:30 p.m. $75 per ticket; sponsorships available.
