UT wildlife expert Deb Miller connects the dots between animals, humans
Curbing her eagerness to open the box that has just arrived at her office at the Center for Wildlife Health at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, director Dr. Deb Miller is, as usual, juggling multiple projects, from prepping for her next round of animal biopsies to coaching a graduate student who’s defending a thesis on semen collection and storage in ocelots.

A couple of weeks ago in this space, I was comparing the approaching election to a medical procedure that involves ingesting large quantities of laxative followed by having a camera inserted into a bodily orifice not designed for ingress. Turns out it wasn’t that bad.

Child Safety Seat Checkpoints. The Knoxville Police Department hosts Child Safety Seat Checkpoints on the second Saturday and fourth Tuesday of every month. They are free for parents, grandparents or other guardians. Child car seats are inspected by a certified car seat technician to ensure proper use or installation. Additionally, car seat technicians provide safety tips and recommendations for those utilizing child safety seats. The checkpoints are led by KPD personnel who have completed the 32-hour Child Passenger Safety Technician Standardized Training.
