NASHVILLE (AP) — The office of Nashville District Attorney General Torry Johnson was evacuated Tuesday after a suspicious package arrived.

Spokeswoman Susan Niland said the office received a threatening letter on Tuesday and a white powder came out of the envelope.

"We don't know the contents of what was in the envelope," she said. "As soon as it opened, that came out and they contacted authorities."

Law enforcement evacuated the office in downtown Nashville and closed part of a street near the county courthouse at around 3:30 p.m.

Keith Moses, with the FBI's Nashville office, said the package would be taken to a state laboratory for analysis. Results are not expected to be known before Wednesday.
