Franklin Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Freedom Intermediate School Honors Choir, the Centennial High School Chamber Choir, Music City Strings and other surprise guests will make an appearance at this year’s event, which is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. today. The downtown Franklin Square will be closed for this event so attendees can view the movies and lights projected on the buildings and walk to the tree without worry of traffic. The square will be closed from 5:45-90 p.m.

Fifth annual Tennessee Local Food Summit

The conference kicks off Friday with in-depth workshops and a chef-prepared, locally grown delicious meal. 62nd Annual Nashville Christmas Parade

Singer-songwriter Jana Kramer, who recently released her sophomore album thirty one, will serve as grand marshal for the 62nd annual Piedmont Natural Gas Nashville Christmas Parade. The parade kicks off the holiday season in downtown Nashville on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. This year’s parade will have a new route. Participants will begin at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Broadway, heading east down Broadway to Second Avenue North, crossing over the Cumberland River and ending at the base of the Woodland Street Bridge.
