Accelerent Nashville selects Minucci to leadership post

Accelerent, a national partnership-driven business development platform, has tapped Steve Minucci as the leader of the company’s recently launched Nashville market.

The Washington, D.C.-based organization focuses exclusively on driving growth for middle market businesses by building strong relationships with industry-exclusive partners and their networks.

Minucci most recently served as managing director for The Tenney Group, where he led the business brokerage division’s C-Suite business owners’ listings.

As the leader of the Nashville market, Minucci will head a development effort that includes selecting each partner company and leading Accelerent’s business development initiatives for the area.

Accelerent, founded in 2006 and based in Washington, D.C., has six active markets and plans to launch 31 more in the next year. At maturity, each market would have 50-60 partner companies, each representing a different industry. Accelerent has markets in Baltimore, Washington, Phoenix, Kansas City, Indianapolis and Nashville.

UnitedHealthcare names new chief medical officer

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Tennessee has named Joel Bradley, M.D., FAAP, as its chief medical officer.

In the role, Bradley will provide leadership for shaping the benefits and services that UnitedHealthcare provides to more than 600,000 TennCare and Medicare Advantage Dual SNP beneficiaries across the state. He is also responsible for working with the health plan’s network of hospitals and physicians to help ensure optimal care for patients.

Bradley joined the health plan in 2007 as associate medical director. A native Tennessean, he has 25 years of clinical practice experience as a general pediatrician and founding partner of Premier Medical Group in Clarksville.

He served for seven years as the medical director of the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation and continues as an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Leadership Health Care announces board of directors

Ted Lomicka, vice president and assistant treasurer of Community Health Systems, has been elected of the Leadership Health Care 2013-2014 board of directors.

Kelvin Ault, vice president, tax, at Vanguard Health Systems, will serve as vice chairman.

LHC is an initiative of the Nashville Health Care Council that fosters the talents of Nashville’s next generation of health care industry leaders by creating educational, networking and mentoring opportunities for the group’s more than 680 members.

Also, Sarah Cook, senior executive director, account management, Healthways, will lead the education and events committee, and Benson Sloan, finance manager, business development, HealthSpring, will direct the membership and marketing committee.

The following new directors have joined the LHC board for three-year terms:

  • Michael Bonner, director, financial and tax reporting, Cumberland Pharmaceuticals
  • Carrie Bryant, compliance officer, American HomePatient
  • Landon Gibbs, director, health care initiatives, Clayton Associates
  • Claire Cowart Haltom, attorney, Baker Donelson
  • Wes Hartig, associate, health care leveraged finance, Fifth Third Bank
  • Clay Phillips, director, provider relations, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee
  • Peter Attwater, Vanderbilt Owen School of Management Health Care MBA candidate, joins the group in a one-year student board seat
  • Mark Wainner, vice president, financial operations and revenue management, AmSurg, will also serve on the board for a renewed, one-year term
  • Frazer Buntin, CEO, WhiteGlove Health, and Beth Workman, chief accounting officer, DSI Renal, are two board members that have been renewed to the board for three-year terms.

GBA adds Spivey to management team

GBA, a health care technology consulting firm, has hired Kelly Spivey as vice president.

Spivey joins GBA’s management team with 23 years of health care consulting and project management experience. She served 12 years at two of the country’s largest health care systems and 11 years at architectural and health care technology firms.

She previously worked at Shen Milsom & Wilke in New York, where she was senior associate and manager of the New York office. Spivey earned her bachelor’s in interior design from Mississippi College and is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects.

YWCA names directors of communications, giving

Michelle Mowery Johnson has been named the director of communications at the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee. In addition to overseeing the marketing and public relations efforts for the agency, she is responsible for managing the YWCA’s advocacy and outreach services programs.

Johnson previously served as director of communications for the Tennessee Department of Human Services during Gov. Phil Bredesen’s administration and was a television news journalist for the ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates in Richmond, Va., and Memphis.

A native of Richmond, Michelle is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Kate Trudell has been named director of individual giving at the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee. Trudell’s area focuses on donor relations and donor cultivation.

Kate graduated with a degree fine art from Furman University. She has been working with nonprofits as a development director for more than four years and as a graphic designer for five years.

Baker Donelson expands global business team

Christian Schütz has joined Baker Donelson’s global business team as an associate in the firm’s Nashville office.

Schütz focuses his practice in the areas of real estate and economic development. He is a native German and earned his law degree from the University of Bonn, Germany, and his master of laws from Vanderbilt University.

The group is composed of 45 practitioners across the firm’s 18 offices and represents U.S. and foreign clients in commercial and financial transactions. Team member experience extends beyond business formation and into the structuring, financing and negotiation of joint ventures and complex business arrangements.

T.J. Martell Foundation hires development director

The T.J. Martell Foundation, a music industry-supported charity, has hired Tinti Moffat as director of strategic development to help raise funds and bring awareness to the foundation’s mission of funding leukemia, cancer and AIDS research.

Moffat will oversee the Southern Region office of the T.J. Martell Foundation.

Moffat has more than 25 years of music business experience, having served as an entertainment consultant for several organizations, most recently managing event production and business development for Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.

Previously, she was an agent at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

Kromis joins Skanska as diversity coordinator

Skanska USA has hired Amie Kromis as its diversity and inclusion coordinator. Kromis, a Nashville native, will be responsible for internal coordination for diversity initiatives and community outreach to small, woman-owned and minority-owned businesses.

Kromis previously worked at CNN as a political events intern, Southwest Airlines as a diversity and inclusion intern and the George W. Bush Presidential Center as a women’s initiative research consultant.

Kromis earned her degree in corporate communications and public affairs from Southern Methodist University in May 2013.

Carter, Lankford CPAs adds senior tax manager

Scott Tomichek, CPA, has joined Carter Lankford CPAs, P.C. as senior tax manager. In this role, Tomichek will direct the daily operations of the tax department and provide superior tax assistance to clients.

Prior to joining Carter Lankford, Tomichek was with Crosslin & Associates for 12 years, most recently as principal in charge of tax. He is a graduate of Nashville School of Law and completed both his undergraduate and graduate work in accounting at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

Barge Waggoner hires Eckel as bridge engineer

Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc. has hired Justin Eckel, PE, to the firm’s Transportation Group as a bridge engineer. Eckel will be responsible for the design of roadway/bridge structural projects for state, federal and local agencies.

Eckel brings 10 years of experience in bridge design throughout the southeastern U.S., most recently with CDM Smith as a structural engineer and previously with the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Division of Structures.

A graduate from Tennessee Tech in civil engineering, Eckel earned his master’s degree from Vanderbilt University.

Moore named COO of J. Alexander’s LLC

J. Alexander’s LLC, operator of J. Alexander’s restaurants and Stoney River Legendary Steak restaurants, has elevated Michael Moore from vice president of human resources and administration to the newly created post of vice president and chief operating officer.

Moore joined J. Alexander’s as general manager of the first J. Alexander’s restaurant opened in Nashville.

Comfort Supply hires inside sales associate

Comfort Supply, a Tennessee wholesaler of Ruud HVAC products, has hired Bill Baushke as inside sales associate.

Most recently, Baushke worked as an inside salesperson for the metal distributor Three States Supply in Clarksville. In addition, he gained HVAC experience during his time with The Trane Company, where he worked for 22 years.
