NASHVILLE (AP) — United Neighborhood Health Services in Nashville has received a $300,000 grant to fight diabetes.

According to The Tennessean newspaper, it is one of five recipients in the country to get such a grant.

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation awarded the money to help black women with Type 2 diabetes manage the disease. Type 2 is the more common kind of the disease, also called adult-onset diabetes.

The health services group will use the money over two years to implement a self-management program that includes physical activity and access to resources.
