Oil holding around four-month low

Print | Front Page | Email this story

NEW YORK (AP) — Oil is holding at four-month lows as investors continue to worry about the European financial crisis.

Benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude lost 3 cents at $94.78 per barrel in Thursday morning trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In London Brent crude rose 71 cents to $113.72 per barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

Crude prices dropped more than 4 percent Wednesday on concerns that Greece's financial woes would spread beyond its borders.

The International Energy Agency said Thursday that the world still has a cushion of surplus oil, although IEA expects demand to rise this year to 89.3 million barrels per day, up 120,000 barrels per day from previous estimates.
