Federal judge dismisses lawsuit over Bible park

MURFREESBORO (AP) — A federal lawsuit over the once-planned Bible Park USA theme park in Rutherford County has been dismissed.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Wiseman in Nashville threw out the suit Tuesday by the Steve Shelton family, who had an $11 million deal to sell land to BPU Holding LLC.

According to The Daily News Journal, at issue was whether a two-thirds vote of the Rutherford County Commission was required to rezone the property. The vote was 12-9 in favor, but two votes short of the higher standard.

The developer later chose Wilson County as the proposed site but eventually ended the project because of opposition.
