Economists monitor consumer spending because it accounts for more than 70 percent of economic activity.

7. Strip center to replace White Bridge Road Calhoun’s -

Lions Head Village, the White Bridge Road shopping center that is home to Stein Mart, Office Max and a variety of smaller stores, is getting nearly 13,000 square feet of additional retail space.

A multi-tenant strip center will replace the Calhoun’s restaurant at 96 White Bridge Road, which closed in July.
