Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands has named attorney DarKenya W. Waller as its new executive director. Waller, who previously served as managing attorney of the firm’s Nashville office, replaces Gary Housepian, who served as executive director for the last decade.

6. Renasant to buy bank for $190M, boost assets more than $10B -

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) — Renasant Corp. is buying Metropolitan BancGroup for $190 million in stock.

Tupelo-based Renasant announced the acquisition Tuesday. Privately-held Metropolitan has joint headquarters in Ridgeland, Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee.

Douglas Hanto M.D., Ph.D., professor of surgery and associate director of the Vanderbilt Transplant Center, has been named the Center’s new director.

58. Renasant Corp.'s 4thQ profit rises -

TUPELO, Miss (AP) — Renasant Corp. says fourth-quarter profit rose on the strength of its expansion.

The regional bank said Tuesday that it earned $5.8 million, or 23 cents per share, in 2011's final quarter. That's up 23 percent from the $4.72 million, or 19 cents per share, that the Tupelo, Miss.-based firm earned in 2010's last three months.
