1. After jobs report, a late push takes stocks to new records -

NEW YORK (AP) — A solid pickup in hiring last month helped push the stock market to record highs Friday. The gains were driven by energy, technology and industrial companies.

The Labor Department told investors what they had hoped to hear: employers added more workers last month after a sluggish beginning to the year.

2. Exxon profit jumps 49 pct, helped by asset sales -

NEW YORK (AP) — A jump in Exxon Mobil's net income couldn't mask broader problems for America's largest oil company.

The Irving, Texas petroleum giant said its second-quarter net income rose 49 percent to $15.9 billion. But most of the gain came from $7.5 billion in asset sales.

3. Exxon Mobil 1Q profit drops 11 percent -

NEW YORK (AP) — Exxon Mobil struggled just about everywhere in the first quarter.

It produced less oil and natural gas. Profits dropped at its chemical plants and U.S. refineries. And its overall net income fell 11 percent, the first decline in quarterly earnings since late 2009.

4. Stocks surge on European debt deal, GDP growth -

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are soaring after European leaders agreed on a deal to slash Greece's debt load and prevent the debt crisis there from engulfing larger countries like Italy. Stronger U.S. economic growth and corporate earnings also drove markets higher.

5. Chemical plant coming to Humphreys County -

NASHVILLE (AP) - Occidental Chemical Corp. of Dallas has announced plans to build a plant in Humphreys County, Tenn., that will create approximately 85 full-time jobs.
