NASHVILLE (AP) — A group of anti-abortion activists will continue to be banned from interfering with patients and providers at a reproductive health clinic outside Nashville, a federal judge has ruled.

3. Justices side with LGBTQ group at Jewish university, for now -

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has cleared the way for an LGBTQ group to gain official recognition from a Jewish university in New York, though that may not last.

By a 5-4 vote Wednesday, the justices lifted a temporary hold on a court order that requires Yeshiva University to recognize the group, the YU Pride Alliance, even as a legal fight continues in New York courts.

4. High court blocks recognition of LGBTQ campus at Yeshiva U -

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a court order that would have forced Yeshiva University to recognize an LGBTQ group as an official campus club.

The court acted Friday in a brief order signed by Justice Sonia Sotomayor that indicated the court would have more to say on the topic at some point.

5. Prosecutor: Trump ally arranged meeting with poll worker -

ATLANTA (AP) — After the 2020 election, a Georgia poll worker who was falsely accused of voting fraud by former President Donald Trump was pressured and threatened with imprisonment during a meeting arranged with the help of an ally of the Trump campaign, a prosecutor said in a court filing Friday.

KNOXVILLE (AP) — Chloe Akers considers herself a grizzled criminal defense attorney. Until a few months ago, she didn't spend much time thinking about abortion — for all her 39 years, abortion was not a crime, so she'd never imagined having to defend someone accused of performing one.

The U.S. Supreme Court on June 24 overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that had provided a constitutional right to abortion. The ruling was expected to lead to abortion bans in roughly half the states, although the timing of those laws taking effect varies.

NASHVILLE (AP) — A federal judge in Tennessee has extended a restraining order against 10 anti-abortion activists and all members of Operation Save America, ordering them not to interfere with patients and providers at a reproductive health clinic outside of Nashville.

9. Nichols joins Meharry as senior vice president -

Michelle Nichols, M.D., M.S., MBA, FAAFP, has been named as senior vice president of clinical affairs Meharry Medical College. Nichols will lead Meharry’s clinical enterprise, collaborating with the college’s clinicians and overseeing its graduate medical education programs. She will spearhead efforts to advance health equity and reduce disparities among those in underserved communities.

RICHMOND, Va. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court said Monday that a high school football coach who sought to kneel and pray on the field after games was protected by the Constitution, a decision that opponents said would open the door to "much more coercive prayer" in public schools.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — In one of the combat zones against Russia, the supply chief for a Ukrainian fighting brigade places his online order for war supplies — a long list ranging from drones, trucks and thermal sights to batteries, generators and tape.
