President-elect Joe Biden is eyeing several Democrats who lost congressional reelection races last month for key positions in his administration. They include outgoing Reps. Abby Finkenauer of Iowa and Donna Shalala of Florida and Sen. Doug Jones of Alabama.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is hitting back at former Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin for claiming that he was fired from his job and that he was only informed about it shortly before President Donald Trump tweeted about his replacement.

Abby Rubenfeld and Bill Harbison have been honored by the Nashville Bar Association with the The John C. Tune Public Service Award, the organization’s highest.

14. Rovi buying TiVo in $1.1B cash-and-stock deal -

NEW YORK (AP) — Digital TV listing company Rovi is buying TiVo in a cash-and-stock deal valued at about $1.1 billion.

Rovi Corp. said Friday that it will pay $10.70 in cash and stock for each TiVo Inc. share. Rovi will pay $2.75 per share in cash, or about $277 million. The rest, $7.95 per share, will be paid in stock.

There is plenty of criticism to go around in the way the Tennessee Titans handled their so-called coaching search, which wound up being Mike Mularkey versus three guys who never had a chance. Amy Adams Strunk had her head coach all along in interim coach Mularkey.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Speaker John Boehner says he's determined to clean up some of the mess of a politically gridlocked Congress in his final month before his successor takes over.

The Ohio Republican says a spending bill to keep the government running will pass and there will be no shutdown when money runs out at midnight Wednesday. Beyond that, he said on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday he expects "I might have a little more cooperation from some around town to try to get as much finished as possible."
