5. Kennedy to lead new Sherrard group -

Nashville law firm Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison has launched a new health care services group focused on dentists, optometrists and veterinarians.

Cornell Kennedy, a partner at the firm, will head the group. Kennedy specializes in representing specialty health care providers by counseling them on various transactional matters that arise with running a practice. Some of those services include navigating providers through the process of startups, practice acquisitions, commercial lease review, drafting partnership agreements, employment agreements and negotiating equity buy-ins.

25. Justices make it easier for companies to defend patent cases -

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is making it easier for companies to defend themselves against patent infringement lawsuits.

The justices ruled unanimously on Monday that such lawsuits can be filed only in states where defendants are incorporated. The issue is important to many companies that complained about patent owners choosing more favorable courts in other parts of the country to file lawsuits.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The former volunteer treasurer for Tennessee Disabled American Veterans has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for theft.

According to the Nashville district attorney's office, Thomas Keller, of Murfreesboro, pleaded guilty in April and was sentenced on Friday in Davidson County Criminal Court.

While it is understandable that Realtors must represent the interests of their clients to the best of their abilities, clients do not understand real estate and, for that reason, have enlisted the assistance of the real estate agent.
