NASHVILLE (AP) — An investigation of a Tennessee state legislator released Wednesday found he took advantage of his position to sexually harass at least 22 women, including a then-20-year-old college student who told investigators Rep. Jeremy Durham plied her with a cooler full of beer and had sex with her in his office in 2014. Another woman interviewed was a lobbyist who nicknamed Durham "Pants Candy" after she said he rummaged in his pocket before suggestively offering her a dirty, unwrapped mint.

Fisk University student Justin Jones says such a financial imposition would place an “undue burden” on his fellow collegians seeking information from public records as part of research papers and other assignments.

NASHVILLE (AP) - Gov. Bill Haslam will lead the planned private fundraising campaign to bolster $120 million in taxpayer support for the new Tennessee State Museum.

Haslam's chief of staff, Mark Cate, outlined plans Monday for both fundraising and construction of the facility, which will be on the Bicentennial Capitol Mall in Nashville, multiple media outlets report.

Rep. Steve McDaniel announced Wednesday that he was taking the measure off notice for the year. The Parker's Crossroads Republican said he has asked the Comptroller's Office of Open Records Counsel and the 14-member Advisory Committee on Open Government to hold hearings on the proposal and to make recommendations by next year's session.

NASHVILLE (AP) — A bill that would strip local governments of the power to ban guns in public parks advanced in the Legislature on Tuesday despite concerns from the governor.

The measure, sponsored by Republican Rep. Mike Harrison of Rogersville, was approved 15-5 in the House Finance Committee and is now being scheduled for a vote on the House floor. The companion bill is awaiting a vote on the Senate floor.

NASHVILLE (AP) — A measure that would require roll-your-own cigarette retailers to pay a licensing fee and tax and adhere to certain restrictions has passed the House.

The measure sponsored by Republican Rep. Steve McDaniel of Parkers Crossroads was approved 68-22 Monday night. The companion bill passed the Senate 25-5 last week.
