1. XOi adds $11M in Series C financing -

XOi Technologies, a Nashville-field service communication solutions company, has announced the completion of its Series C financing round.

The $11-million round was led by PeakSpan Capital with participation by Grotech Ventures, as well as Series B investors, Vocap Investment Partners and Nashville Capital Network.

2. HCA pays $1.5B for North Carolina hospitals -

Nashville’s HCA Healthcare has acquired Mission Health, a six-hospital system in Asheville and western North Carolina, for approximately $1.5 billion.

3. HCA CEO Johnson to retire, company lays out succession plan -

HCA Healthcare CEO R. Milton Johnson will retire at the end of the year and be replaced by veteran executive Sam Hazen, the hospital chain's president and chief operating officer.

The company also said Monday that Johnson will leave its board next spring and be replaced as chairman by Thomas F. Frist III.

4. HCA appoints new chief operating officer -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Nashville-based HCA has a new chief operating officer, Sam Hazen, a 32-year veteran of HCA.

Hazen has served as president of operations for HCA since 2011, overseeing the operations of the company's 166 hospitals and 113 freestanding surgery centers, domestically and in the United Kingdom.
