5. Carolina rallies, eliminates Preds with 4-3 Game 6 OT win -

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes finally figured out how to beat the Nashville Predators in overtime: Score quickly.

And now they're onto the second round.

Sebastian Aho scored his second goal of the game 1:06 into overtime and the Hurricanes advanced with a 4-3 comeback victory over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night in Game 6. It was their second straight overtime win to finish off the series with both winning goals scored within the first couple minutes.

6. Aho, Nedeljkovic lift Hurricanes past Predators, 3-0 -

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Alex Nedeljkovic stayed composed and steady all night in net. It's a good thing the Carolina Hurricanes' penalty kill did, too.

11. Johansen's shootout goal leads Predators over Stars 3-2 -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Ryan Johansen was the lone scorer in the shootout, leading the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday night.

Ryan Ellis and Yakov Trenin scored in regulation for Nashville, which has won four of five and holds the fourth playoff spot in the Central Division.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Rocco Grimaldi had a career night, thanks in large part to Trudy.

Grimaldi scored four goals to tie a team record and lead the Nashville Predators over the Detroit Red Wings 7-1 on Thursday.

13. NHL suspends Preds defenseman Fabbro 2 games for hit -

NEW YORK (AP) — The NHL has suspended Nashville Predators defenseman Dante Fabbro two games for elbowing Carolina Hurricanes forward Brock McGinn.

The league's Department of Player Safety announced the suspension Wednesday after a morning hearing for the rookie defenseman. Fabbro will forfeit $15,948.28 based on his average annual salary, with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Steven Stamkos had two goals and an assist, Joseph scored twice on his 24th birthday and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 32 saves to lead the streaking Tampa Bay Lightning past the Nashville Predators 6-1 on Tuesday night.

25. GM calls Preds' series loss unacceptable, promises changes -

NASHVILLE (AP) — The NHL's winningest general manager is not happy with the Nashville Predators' diminishing returns, and David Poile made it clear Thursday that change is coming.

"Bottom line, this is unacceptable," Poile said in a video conference call. "And this is how we have to view this result is that we have to be better, and it's not acceptable."

37. Stars rally to beat Preds 4-2 in Winter Classic at Cotton -

DALLAS (AP) — Dallas Stars interim coach Rick Bowness had just seen a very similar comeback by his team, though the surroundings for this one were drastically different.

While pigs raced during timeouts next to the outdoor rink, which was built in the middle of a historic football stadium and framed to appear as if it was under an oversized ranch entry, the Stars scored four goals in a span of just under eight minutes in a 4-2 win Wednesday over the Nashville Predators in an NHL Winter Classic that felt like a state fair.

38. Duclair scores in OT, Senators get past Predators 5-4 -

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — The Ottawa Senators made Marcus Hogberg's first NHL win one to remember.

Hogberg made 33 saves to complement Anthony Duclair's power-play overtime winner, and the Senators beat the Nashville Predators 5-4 on Thursday night.

39. Josi, Saros lead Predators to 5-2 win vs. Rangers -

NEW YORK (AP) — Coming off back-to-back losses, the Nashville Predators came through with a strong defensive effort and some timely goals to get a needed win.

Roman Josi had two goals and an assist, Juuse Saros stopped 39 shots, and the Predators beat the New York Rangers 5-2 Monday night.

40. Eichel scores 2 goals; Sabres beat Predators 4-3 -

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — On a night the Sabres celebrated the tradition of their old building, Jack Eichel and his Buffalo teammates continued to establish a home-ice advantage in their current arena.

Eichel had two goals to extend his NHL-leading point streak to 15 games, and linemate Victor Oloffson scored the deciding goal in the third period as Buffalo rallied to beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 for their third straight win.

DENVER (AP) — With a dizzying flurry of goals in one electric eight-minute stretch, the Colorado Avalanche rediscovered their offense and ended nearly four years of frustration at home against Nashville.

DETROIT (AP) — Matt Duchene figured the Nashville Predators deserved better after scoring just once in a loss to the New York Rangers over the weekend.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Nashville Predators finally have their captain Roman Josi signed to a long-term deal, and general manager David Poile is so confident in the defenseman's future he included a rare no movement clause in the eight-year, $72.4 million deal.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Nashville got plenty of scoring against Anaheim, more than needed with Pekka Rinne nearly flawless in goal.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The way Phil Kessel had been playing for the Arizona Coyotes at the start of the season, scoring a goal was just a matter of time.

The veteran forward put it all together Thursday night, scoring his first two goals for Arizona, and Christian Dvorak scored his third goal in two games as the Coyotes beat the Nashville Predators 5-2.

50. Ellis, Forsberg help rally Predators past Wild 5-2 -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Matt Duchene was feeling a bit nervous before his debut with Nashville. A misstep in the pregame warmup helped the Predators’ new free agent feel more at ease.

As the warmup came to an end, Duchene was the last Predators player on the ice. He caught an edge and fell in the right faceoff circle. From his backside, he fired a puck into the net, much to the delight of the sellout crowd, who cheered the new center.

In January, a coyote was found cowering in a restroom in the Music City Center.

It might have been in town for a Predators game.

The bushy-tailed gate-crasher darted past security and sought refuge in the restroom. It was eventually collared and escorted off the premises by Metro Animal Care and Control officials.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Ryan Johansen's patience in the shootout is making Minnesota goalies very angry and grabbing extra points for Nashville.

Johansen skated in slowly on Devan Dubnyk before beating the sprawled-out netminder for the lone goal in a shootout, and the Predators beat Minnesota 5-4 on Tuesday for their second win against the Wild in three nights.

60. Arvidsson’s speed keeps Preds near top -

Full speed seems to be the only speed for Viktor Arvidsson. His energy, quickness and fearlessness help explain why he’s such a good scorer. “He brings so much to the table with the way he plays the game,” Nashville coach Peter Laviolette says of the right wing who leads the Predators with 26 goals despite missing 24 games with a broken thumb and an upper-body injury.

Kevin Fiala scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period and the Predators beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 Monday night. Ryan Ellis also scored and Pekka Rinne stopped 21 shots to help Nashville win its second straight.
