NASHVILLE(AP) — The head of Tennessee's lottery has been elected president of the World Lottery Association.

The Tennessee lottery said its president and CEO, Rebecca P. Hargrove, is the first female president of the global organization. It includes more than 140 government-authorized and licensed lottery organizations from more than 80 countries on six continents.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Lottery says it had record sales last year.

The lottery said in a statement that it had gross total sales of $1.7 billion last fiscal year. The statement says it will return nearly $422 million to education programs, which is 9 percent more than the previous fiscal year.

10. Lottery sets record for education funding in first quarter -

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Lottery says it returned a record $119 million for education funding during the first quarter of the year, a 27 percent increase over the previous quarterly record.

Lottery-funded programs include 12 different scholarships and grants, multiple after-school programs, an energy-efficient schools program and Tennessee Promise, which offers eligible high school seniors the chance to go to community or technical college without paying tuition.

NASHVILLE (AP) - Lottery officials verified Friday that a warehouse supervisor from the small town of Munford, Tennessee, bought one of three tickets winning the world-record $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The president and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corp. is being recognized by a leading lottery trade organization with an award named after her.

According to the lottery, the "Rebecca Hargrove Award for Mentorship" is given in recognition of an individual's "generous spirit that supports the wise and responsible development of the next generation of lottery industry leaders."

20. Lottery raises record $323M for education programs -

NASHVILLE (AP) - Tennessee lottery officials announced Monday that the lottery has raised more than $323 million this year for state education programs, the eighth consecutive record-setting year.

The figure is a 10.2 percent increase - or roughly $30 million - over last year's then-record of $293.4 million, officials said.

21. State lottery has new game with $3 million prize -

NASHVILLE (AP) - The Tennessee Lottery launches a new game on Tuesday with the biggest top prize in the history of the state game.

"$3,000,000 Mega Cash" is an instant game played by scratching a ticket. Besides the $3 million top prize, there are 10 prizes from $1 million to $3 million and more than 500,000 prizes from $50 to $20,000. It costs $20 to play.

22. Lawmakers debate halving some scholarships -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Psychology student Jay MacDonnchadh says a plan that would cut some students' lottery scholarships in half is a bad idea.

"If it wasn't for the lottery scholarship, I would have had to work my way up through community college," said the University of Memphis senior.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The head of the Tennessee Lottery says players in the state will like changes to the Powerball game because of the larger jackpots.

Rebecca Hargrove says there are both bigger prizes and better odds under new rules that just took effect.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Among those no longer receiving Republican Gov. Bill Haslam's daily news roundup are 74 lawmakers, five dead people, former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen — and Bredesen's mother.

Haslam's staff cut distribution of the widely read "Daily News Clips" email from more than 1,200 to 183. A spokesman has said the change makes the email list more manageable and hasn't saved any money.
