NASHVILLE (AP) — R&B legend Ray Charles, who helped redefine country music in the Civil Rights era, and Grammy-winning duo The Judds will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The Country Music Association on Monday announced the new class of Hall of Fame members, who will be formally inducted in a ceremony in 2022.

NEW YORK (AP) — Country singer Joe Diffie, who had a string of hits in the 1990s with chart-topping ballads and honky-tonk singles like "Home" and "Pickup Man," has died after testing positive for COVID-19. He was 61.

15. Law boon to wealthy landowners, not just farmers -

BRENTWOOD (AP) - A law passed to reduce taxes for farmers is also being used to drastically cut tax bills by wealthy Tennessee residents who appear to do little farming.

The Commercial Appeal looked at records across the state and concluded the statute causes counties to forego an average of 5 percent of their tax base to greenbelt discounts. Those losses reach 20 percent in rural counties where the economy relies heavily on agriculture.

HILL CITY, S.D. (AP) — Country singer Wynonna Judd announced Sunday that she is postponing concerts scheduled in Canada next week after her husband was hurt in a motorcycle accident in South Dakota.

17. Ashley Judd selected as Tenn. Democratic delegate -

NASHVILLE (AP) - Democratic leaders in a Tennessee county are sending actress Ashley Judd as a delegate to the party's national convention in September.

Judd is one of three delegates selected from Williamson County to serve in at-large positions at the convention. Judd has been outspoken on a variety of humanitarian and social justice issues and has supported local Democratic candidates in the past. The Kentucky native is the daughter of country singer Naomi Judd.
