1. Simmons is the big one Titans didn’t let get away -

Titans general manager Jon Robinson did not hesitate to draft Jeffery Simmons in the 2019 NFL draft, even after he had fallen down the draft boards.

Simmons, a projected Top 10 talent in that year’s draft, dropped to the Titans at No. 19 in part because of a knee injury suffered two months before the draft while training and, in part, because of an assault issue involving a woman from his college days at Mississippi State.

2. 7-2 Titans are an anomaly in pass-happy NFL -

Those who grew up on Sesame Street will remember the game and accompanying song: “One of These Things is Not Like the Other.”

In the NFL version, always go with the Tennessee Titans as the odd man out.

3. Defense carries Titans past Rams 28-16 for 5th consecutive win -

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — On two snaps 20 seconds apart, Jeffery Simmons and Kevin Byard forced Matthew Stafford into a pair of terrible decisions. The stunning sequence ended with Byard sprinting to the end zone carrying the second of Stafford's back-to-back interceptions.

4. Titans at Rams: What to watch -

The Titans are 6-2 and in control of the AFC South, but the challenge of going forward without Derrick Henry begins Sunday night in Los Angeles. The Rams provide a stern test for a wounded Titans team, now missing its biggest piece.

5. Black Americans laud Juneteenth holiday, say more work ahead -

WASHINGTON (AP) — Black Americans rejoiced after President Joe Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday, but some said that, while they appreciated the recognition at a time of racial reckoning in America, more is needed to change policies that disadvantage too many of their brethren.

6. Downing trying to tune up Titans' offense, not replace Smith -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Todd Downing has no plans to fill Arthur Smith's shoes as Tennessee's new offensive coordinator. His real challenge is keeping the Titans' offense clicking as well as possible.

8. Titans ready (or not) for prime time -

We know this much about the Tennessee Titans after 14 games: The offense is prolific – the best we have ever seen from the club since it moved to Tennessee in 1997. The Titans have scored 30 points or more nine times this season, and scored 40-plus points for the fourth time this season in Sunday’s 46-25 romp against the Detroit Lions.

9. Tannehill has 5 TDs, Titans rout Lions 46-25 -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee is clicking on offense at a rate unseen in franchise history chasing the franchise's first AFC South title since 2008.

The Titans also think they can get better.

Ryan Tannehill accounted for a career-high five touchdowns passing and running, and Derrick Henry ran for 147 yards and a score to move the Titans closer to clinching their third playoff berth in four seasons Sunday routing the Detroit Lions 46-25.

10. Lions' Stafford questionable for matchup with Titans -

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Matthew Stafford is questionable for Detroit's game Sunday at Tennessee.

Stafford is dealing with thumb and rib injuries, and he was limited in practice Friday. The Lions also listed center Frank Ragnow (throat) as questionable. Wide receiver Kenny Golladay (hip) is out, along with offensive lineman Tyrell Crosby (ankle), defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand (ankle) and cornerback Darryl Roberts (hip).

11. No time for letdown vs. outmanned Detroit -

First down: Don’t let up now. The Titans showed what they were capable of against a bad Jacksonville team, not allowing the lowly Jaguars much sign of life in Sunday’s win. The Lions, too, are a non-contender, but the Titans can’t allow them to find life early and stick around to be in position to pull an upset.

12. McGlinchey Stafford expands consumer compliance team -

13. Edwards, Hammonds lead Georgia to 80-63 rout of Tennessee -

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia's older players were motivated by what happened a year ago in Knoxville.

Anthony Edwards was ticked off about a more recent game.

Bouncing back from a disappointing performance last weekend, Edwards scored 20 of his 26 points in the first half, pushing Georgia to a big lead that carried the Bulldogs to an 80-63 victory over Tennessee on Wednesday night.

14. Titans’ chances depend on Texans’ playoff strategy -

Titans 21, Texans 20: It all comes down to this for the Titans. Can they go on the road and defeat the rival Texans, who really have little to play for other than keeping their division rival out of the postseason?

15. Facing Brees, Saints with season on line a tall order -

The Tennessee Titans had their destiny within their grasp last week. All they needed to do was to find a way to beat the Houston Texans. But that didn’t happen, and now the Titans are back in familiar territory – hoping to win out and hoping even harder for help from the outside.

16. History against Titans vs. Colts, especially in Lucas Oil Stadium -

Colts 24, Titans 20: It’s tempting to predict the Titans will pull the upset in Indianapolis and thrust themselves into the AFC South title chase. History, however, tells us the Colts have a three-game win streak against the Titans and have won 19 of the last 22 games in the series. The Titans have one win at Indianapolis since 2008. Until that changes, it’s tough to pick a Titans win.

17. Tennessee should win against Jacksonville, but must avoid trap -

Titans 23, Jaguars 20: The Titans have had a bad habit of blowing games like this one against bad teams, especially when coming off a big win in their last previous outing. Maybe the bye week will help level the emotions. Whatever the case, the Titans should – and the emphasis here is on should – win this game at home. Whether they do is another matter altogether.

18. Week 11 predictions: Steelers’ demise are greatly exaggerated -

The NFL goes on, even if the Titans are idle. This week’s schedule has some intriguing matchups worth watching and games that will affect the Titans’ position in the standings and rankings.

In approximately six weeks, the clock will start ticking for the Tennessee Titans and General Manager Jon Robinson.

Barring a run to the playoffs, that’s when the window will open on the future of Marcus Mariota as the Titans quarterback. Mariota is under contract for 2019, but beyond that, who really knows whether the former Heisman Trophy winner is the long-term answer under center in Tennessee.

49. Titans should follow Lions’ lead in overhauling roster -

Instead of CBS, Fox or even the NFL Network, the Titans might need to move to the HGTV, where experts take once-proud houses and restore them to their former grandeur.

Now losers of six in a row and 10 of their past 11 – with only a two-point home win against fellow patsy Jacksonville – the Titans are no longer treading the waters of mediocrity, as they had for the previous five years.
