WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court seemed wary Tuesday of getting federal judges involved in determining when electoral district maps are too partisan.

The high court heard more than two hours of arguments in two cases involving the issue. During the first case, which involves North Carolina's heavily Republican congressional map, conservative justices seemed largely skeptical of putting judges in the position of refereeing disputes over the maps. The court's conservatives currently hold a 5-4 majority on the court.
