Malcolm Turner has resigned as Vanderbilt athletic director after one year on the job, and Candice Storey Lee has been named interim athletic director effectively immediately.

Vanderbilt announced Tuesday the school had accepted Turner’s resignation. Turner was president of the NBA G League when hired in December 2018 by Vanderbilt to replace David Williams. He started Feb. 1, 2019.

45. Loved ones remember Nashville musician killed in robbery -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Family and friends gathered Monday to memorialize a young Nashville musician who was shot to death outside his home last week.

Five youths ages 12 to 16 have been charged with criminal homicide in the death of 24-year-old Kyle Yorlets. But on Monday, those who knew him focused on the man rather than the tragic circumstances of his death. Friends and family spoke of Yorlets' wit, musical talent and easy way of making others feel he truly cared about their struggles.

Perhaps the clearest evidence of Tennessee's fall over the last decade is how the Volunteers have lost their status as the premier program in their own state.

NASHVILLE (AP) — Don Williams, an award-winning country singer with love ballads like "I Believe in You," has died. He was 78.

A statement from his publicist Kirt Webster said he died Friday after a short illness.

Oops. I goofed last year. So did lots of other people who thought Tennessee’s football team would win the SEC East Division and go to the league championship game for the first time since 2007. I predicted the Vols would go 10-2 in the regular season, 6-2 in the SEC, tie Georgia for the East Division title, go to the SEC Championship Game, lose to Alabama for a second time and go to the Orange Bowl.
