NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee will soon stop providing the names and addresses of COVID-19 patients to first responders, after initially arguing that doing so would protect those on the front line.

Gov. Bill Lee's administration decided on the change this week, conceding that the data may have created a false sense of security to those responding to emergency calls. The data sharing will stop at the end of the month.

33. Verizon, AT&T to end location data sales to brokers -

Verizon and AT&T have pledged to stop providing information on phone owners' locations to data brokers, stepping back from a business practice that has drawn criticism for endangering privacy.

The data has apparently allowed outside companies to pinpoint the location of wireless devices without their owners' knowledge or consent.  Verizon said that about 75 companies have been obtaining its customer data from two little-known California-based brokers that Verizon supplies directly — LocationSmart and Zumigo

NASHVILLE (AP) - As Black Lives Matter protests pop up in major Tennessee cities, police say they've made concerted efforts to avoid arrests and maintain peace.

Most events in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga in response to last week's police shootings of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota - and the retaliatory killings of five police officers by a black sniper in Dallas - have been peaceful, according to local media outlets.
