NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are keeping the quarterback that led them within a victory of the Super Bowl, agreeing to a four-year, $118 million extension with Ryan Tannehill.

The Titans announced the deal Sunday, hours after the NFL Players Association approved a new collective bargaining agreement.

The two biggest questions the Tennessee Titans face as they head into the offseason are their plans are for running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Both are likely to be signed to contract extensions. If that fails, the Titans have both the franchise tag and the transition tag at their disposal to keep them on the roster.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — On a night the Sabres celebrated the tradition of their old building, Jack Eichel and his Buffalo teammates continued to establish a home-ice advantage in their current arena.

Eichel had two goals to extend his NHL-leading point streak to 15 games, and linemate Victor Oloffson scored the deciding goal in the third period as Buffalo rallied to beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 for their third straight win.

33. Titans win 4th consecutive, 42-21 against Raiders -

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The way the Tennessee Titans offense is rolling under Ryan Tannehill, an early interception proved to be an easy obstacle to overcome.

Tannehill threw for 391 yards and three touchdowns, Derrick Henry ran for two scores and the Titans won their fourth straight game by beating the Oakland Raiders 42-21 on Sunday.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Dane Cruikshank and Tye Smith teamed up to make a game-changing play Sunday.

It could turn out to be a season-turning one for Tennessee, too.

Cruikshank raced through an inside gap to block a potential tiebreaking field goal late in the fourth quarter and Smith returned it 63 yards for the go-ahead touchdown to send the Titans past Indianapolis 31-17.

It appears the Tennessee Titans might go as far as Derrick Henry’s big-play ability can carry them in 2019.

Henry had another big day Sunday, rushing for 159 yards, including a 74-yard TD run, against his favorite victims, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans came up with an amazing goal-line stand stopping the Los Angeles Chargers.

Not once, twice but thrice.

Each time, they needed the replay official to overturn the call on the field turning what the Chargers thought were a pair of go-ahead touchdowns and a final ruling that gave the ball — and the game — to the Titans.

Gardner Minshew threw two touchdown passes and should have had a third, Calais Campbell spearheaded another defensive gem and the Jacksonville Jaguars handled the Tennessee Titans 20-7 in sloppy conditions Thursday night.

50. What to watch as Titans open preseason practice -

Last year: Coach Mike Vrabel just missed the playoffs in his debut season despite having enough issues to distract any veteran head coach. The Titans opened with the longest game (in overall time) in NFL history, losing top pass catcher TE Delanie Walker to season-ending injury in the process. Their most-experienced receiver, Rishard Matthews, was released at his demand, and DC Dean Pees was in hospital for the loss in Indianapolis. QB Marcus Mariota also missed three starts, including the season finale with a playoff berth on line.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans opened their mandatory minicamp Tuesday with no drama and new left guard Rodger Saffold the lone absence, and he was excused for personal reasons.

Not bad considering at least 15 Titans are going into the final year on their contracts, including eight starters.

Taco Bell. If there’s a restaurant that sums up the minor league baseball experience, it might as well be Taco Bell, at least if you ask Nashville Sounds side-arm slinger Tim Dillard.

Of his 16 years scratching the rubber to get to The Show, 13 of them have been at the AAA level, with brief call-ups to the majors four times between 2008 and 2012, all with the Milwaukee Brewers.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans' quest for a second straight postseason ended with injured quarterback Marcus Mariota watching from the sideline .

Luckily for the Titans, Mariota said a neck specialist has made clear only rest is needed — no surgery — to heal nerves frayed by injuries that knocked him out of three different games this season.

The Tennessee Titans are alive in the NFL playoff chase – they’re in with a win against the Colts on Sunday – thanks to some unlikely sources.

With the Titans on the ropes against the Washington Redskins in the fourth quarter last Saturday, it was a touchdown pass from backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert to tight end MyCole Pruitt that put Tennessee ahead to stay and makes Week 17 meaningful for the Titans’ playoff hopes.

Kevin Fiala scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period and the Predators beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 Monday night. Ryan Ellis also scored and Pekka Rinne stopped 21 shots to help Nashville win its second straight.

1. DeShaun Watson making things happen. The first time the Titans played the Texans this year, they seemed to rattle Watson and keep the Texans QB out of rhythm. That was amazing considering he had thrashed them for 57 points last year in his only game against Tennessee.
