The investment announced by Gov. Bill Haslam on Wednesday will be used to construct two new barrelhouses, expand the bottling facility and support the increasing number of visitors to the facility. Officials say more than 275,000 tourists from around the world visited the distillery in Lynchburg last year.

11. Culinary pioneer, early TV cook Phila Hach dead at 89 -

NASHVILLE (AP) - Phila Hach, a culinary pioneer from Tennessee who had the first televised cooking show in the South, has died.

Her son, Joe Hach, said she died Wednesday at age 89.

The Tennessean reports (http://tnne.ws/1PzWjwR) Hach starred on WSM-TVs "Kitchen Kollege" from 1950 to 1956. Later, she worked as a restaurateur, caterer and innkeeper in Clarksville and Nashville.

68. Dickel sues Tennessee over liquor storage requirement -

NASHVILLE (AP) - Whiskey maker George Dickel is suing to overturn a Tennessee law that requires liquor to be stored in or around the county where it is distilled.

Dickel, which is owned by global liquor giant Diageo PLC, said it stores all of its Tennessee Whisky at its distillery about 60 miles south of Nashville. But other products are stored at a company-owned distillery in Louisville, Ky.

LYNCHBURG (AP) — A group of ducks retiring from service at Memphis' Peabody Hotel has moved to Lynchburg.

According to a news release from Jack Daniel's, Peabody ducks generally retire to the farm where they were raised. But in a Wednesday ceremony, one group walked down red and black carpets following Peabody Duckmaster Anthony Petrina and Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Jeff Arnett to a new home in a pond just below the distillery's cave spring. There, the ducks will eat the same grain and drink the same iron-free water used to make Jack Daniel's whiskey.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Jack Daniel's is being served a $100 million-plus expansion of its rural Tennessee distillery to flex more muscle in the growing whiskey market.

The investment amounts to the largest single production expansion in the brand's long history. It will add stills and barrel warehouses at the Jack Daniel's operations in Lynchburg, Tenn., the brand's Louisville-based parent company, Brown-Forman Corp., said Thursday.

The parent company of Jack Daniel's announced a $100 million-plus expansion of its Tennessee distillery Thursday. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Liquor producer Brown-Forman Corp. says its fourth-quarter net income rose 8 percent with broad sales growth in its spirits lineup, led by its flagship Jack Daniel's brand.

The company on Wednesday reported strong U.S. sales and says its international sales were bolstered by the rollout of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey in several key markets.
