1. Tennessee accepting applications for Supreme Court vacancy -

NASHVILLE (AP) — A Tennessee panel is accepting applications to fill the vacancy that will be left by Justice Sharon Lee's planned retirement next summer.

The Governor's Council for Judicial Appointments says applicants must be at least 35 years old, a state resident for at least five years and a resident of the Eastern Tennessee Grand Division.

2. Butler Snow adds to government relations team -

Allyson E. Lynch and Michael Zimmerman have joined Butler Snow’s government relations advisers within the Regulatory & Government Relations practice group in Nashville.

Before joining Butler Snow, Lynch was a judicial clerk for three Tennessee Supreme Court justices, including most recently the Hon. Jeffrey S. Bivins. She researched complex legal issues in both civil and criminal matters to draft majority and separate opinions, judgment orders and more.

3. Wife of former U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander dies at age 77 -

MARYVILLE (AP) — Leslee Kathryn Buhler Alexander, the wife of former Tennessee governor and U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander and a longtime family and children's health advocate, has died at age 77, her family said Sunday.

The Tennessee Bar Association has named Nashville lawyer Joycelyn Stevenson as its new executive director.

A shareholder with Littler Mendelson PC with a practice focused on labor and employment law, Stevenson has been a leader in the Tennessee legal community, serving as president of both the Nashville Bar Association and the Lawyers’ Association for Women - Marion Griffin Chapter. She is the first African-American woman to lead both organizations and will be the first African-American woman to direct the TBA.

NASHVILLE (AP) - Jane Eskind, the first woman to win a statewide election in Tennessee and a longtime Democratic Party activist, died Thursday. She was 83.

Eskind died after a long illness, said Katy Varney, a family spokeswoman.
