CHATTANOOGA (AP) — A Volkswagen plant in Tennessee is getting a new chief executive who in the coming months will work on an $800 million expansion and oversee two vehicle launches.

The Times Free Press reports 58-year-old Tom du Plessis will be taking over as CEO for Frank Fischer who took the position temporarily in May.

7. VW names new chief executive at Chattanooga plant -

CHATTANOOGA (AP) — German auto maker Volkswagen has named a new chief executive at its factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a company spokeswoman said Friday.

Frank Fischer has been named the new CEO at the factory where 3,800 workers produce the Passat and Atlas vehicles, plant spokeswoman Amanda Plecas said in a phone interview.

Jerome Powell has won Senate confirmation to head the U.S. central bank, inheriting an economy on a roll, a booming stock market and unemployment at a 17-year low.

In a Wednesday statement from VW, Motor Trend editor-in-chief Angus MacKenzie said "chassis, steering, ride and handling all are tastiest within this segment." MacKenzie said "it's in this category the bigger Passat really demonstrates its engineering excellence."
