5. Biden to nominate 3 federal prosecutors for New York offices -

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden intends to nominate three prosecutors to run the U.S. attorney's offices in New York, including the first Black man to run the Southern District of New York.

Biden will nominate Damian Williams as the U.S. attorney in the Southern District, which is one of the largest offices in the nation and handles some of the Justice Department's most significant and sensitive cases, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The office is based in Manhattan.

Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival producers have scheduled the next event for Sept. 25-26 following a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Global energy prices spiked Monday by 15% after a weekend attack on key oil facilities in Saudi Arabia caused the worst disruption to world supplies on record.

The attack on the country's largest oil processing plant halted more than half of its daily exports, resulting in the loss of 5% of world crude oil output. That's especially worrying for oil-thirsty Asia, where China, Japan, South Korea and India are major customers of Saudi oil.

NEW YORK (AP) — The stock market ended slightly lower Tuesday after reports of intensifying political turmoil in Egypt offset good news about the U.S. economy.

Stocks rose most of the day on positive news about car sales, home prices and manufacturing. But major indexes turned lower after 1:40 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time after news emerged that Egypt's military had drawn up plans to suspend the country's constitution, dissolve its legislature and set up an interim government. Millions of protesters are demanding the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans bought more electronics, started home improvement projects and updated their wardrobes last month, inspired by warmer weather and a healthier job market.

U.S. retail sales rose 0.8 percent in March, the Commerce Department said Friday.
