ATLASBX Co., LTD, will locate its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Clarksville. The global automotive battery manufacturer will invest $75 million and create approximately 200 jobs in Montgomery County.

Butler Snow has hired Tara L. Blake for the firm’s Nashville office, and more specifically the firm’s pharmaceutical, medical device and health care litigation group.

61. Middle Tennessee's $1M-plus residential transactions for 2017 -

There were 690 commercial real estate transactions worth $1 million or more in Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Sumner and Wilson counties in 2017, according to Chandler Reports.

Davidson County had the most with 333, followed by Williamson (152), Rutherford (104), Sumner (51) and Wilson (50).

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The flash of the CES technology show in Las Vegas is all about robots, drones and smart gadgets. But its subtext is all about Google versus Amazon.

Both companies usually shun conventions like CES, preferring to debut gadgets at their own press events. But these tech giants have built an imposing presence here this year as they work to weave their voice-operated digital assistants more deeply into our personal lives.

As Nashville grows, there is more smart growth than unintelligent growth, if smart growth is defined by the principles that governed the phrase when it came into being around in 2006.

An example of smart growth would be the new construction at 2016 A Beech Avenue. The inclusion of the letter A connotes there is more than one residence on the lot, at least a B, if not a C or D. By creating two or more spaces where there was one, the developer is adhering to the smart-choice philosophy of taking advantage of compact design.

65. More sausage to be made in Nashville -

Cargill’s North America protein business is investing $146 million to expand the company’s Nashville facility.

The investment will include construction of a state-of-the-art dried sausage production facility and will create more than 100 jobs, which doubles the facility’s current employment. Sausage production is scheduled to begin in Nashville during the first half of 2019.

NEW YORK (AP) — The results of a staff survey jolted Alex Slater into realizing how drastically his business needed a culture change.

Kurt Winstead, a founding member of the Nashville law firm Rudy Winstead Turner, PLLC, has been promoted to brigadier general in the Tennessee National Guard.

Winstead began his career with the Tennessee National Guard in 1990 when he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corp. His first assignment was as the judge advocate general for the 194th Engineer Brigade, now headquartered in Jackson. Throughout his more than 26 years of service, Winstead has served in numerous assignments culminating as the senior staff judge advocate at the Joint Force Headquarters in Nashville.
