7. Raines retiring as dean of Belmont’s business school -

Pat Raines, dean of Belmont University’s Jack C. Massey College of Business, has announced his retirement after 16 years of service to the school.

During Raines’ tenure, the school has received accolades from Princeton Review, BusinessWeek and Entrepreneurship magazine for having some of the top business programs in the country. The College of Business’s undergraduate enrollment has grown by more than 100%, and the graduate enrollment has increased by nearly 80%.

11. Heritage Medical Associates names CEO -

Heritage Medical Associates has hired James Shill as CEO. Shill brings more than 25 years of health care leadership experience to his new role.

Most recently, he served as CEO of Ferguson Medical Group, a multispecialty physician group with locations throughout southeast Missouri. Before that, he held leadership positions with multiple health care organizations in Alaska, including the state’s largest locally-owned medical clinic.

Timothy M. Lupinacci has assumed the role of chairman and chief executive officer of Baker Donelson.

NEW YORK (AP) — As stocks hit record after record in the past decade, investors didn't much care if a stock was cheap or expensive. What mattered most was: Is it growing quickly?

If the answer was yes, the stock was in high demand, almost regardless of the price. Investors were ravenous for companies able to add customers and deliver fat growth. So they were willing to pay premium prices for an Amazon or a Netflix. Left behind were stocks in more staid industries, even if they looked like better bargains by several measures.

There are two kinds of football coaches in the Southeastern Conference: those that have gotten fired and those that haven’t gotten fired – yet.

The Nashville Technology Council has announced nominees in 13 categories for its seventh annual awards.

Finalists were selected among nominees by a panel of peers and tech industry leaders. Winners will be announced at the seventh annual NTC Awards ceremony presented by Vaco, held Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Event Hall in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

85. NAIOP Nashville elects first female president -

Lizabeth Theiss is the new president of the Nashville Chapter of NAIOP, Commercial Real Estate Development Association, making history as the chapter’s first female president.

Theiss, who is vice president of business development and a member of the executive team at Crain Construction Inc., takes office in January and will serve a one-year term for the 450-member association. A NAIOP (National Association for Industrial and Office Parks) member since 2002, she previously served as president-elect, secretary and bus tour chair.
