8. Marcus Mariota starting with Titans' backups hurt, learning -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is starting this weekend against the Eagles, no matter how limited his injured right hand might be.

Mariota is Tennessee's best option with backup QB Blaine Gabbert in the concussion protocol. Austin Davis just joined the Titans and has been given a crash course in the Titans' offense but is still learning the playbook.

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have added a quarterback with Marcus Mariota dealing with an injured elbow and backup Blaine Gabbert in the concussion protocol.

The Titans made a flurry of moves Tuesday agreeing to terms with veteran quarterback Austin Davis. They also placed offensive lineman Kevin Pamphile on injured reserve to create a roster spot after he started the last two games.

The law firm of Baker Donelson has named Ashby Q. Burks co-chair of Baker Ober Health Law, one of the largest health law practices in the country.

40. Crider named chair of Baker Donelson group -

The law firm of Baker Donelson has named Christy Tosh Crider chair of its Health Care Litigation Group.

Crider is a shareholder located in Baker Donelson’s Nashville office where she will continue to serve as chair of the Firm’s Long Term Care Group, as well as the Firm’s Women’s Initiative. She manages a successful practice concentrated in the long-term care and behavioral health industries, managing the litigation of numerous long term care facilities around the country as well as serving as outside general counsel.

Dr. Kevin D. Rome, Sr., president of Lincoln University of Missouri, has been selected by the Board of Trustees as the 16th president of Fisk University.

Kurt Winstead, a founding member of the Nashville law firm Rudy Winstead Turner, PLLC, has been promoted to brigadier general in the Tennessee National Guard.

Winstead began his career with the Tennessee National Guard in 1990 when he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corp. His first assignment was as the judge advocate general for the 194th Engineer Brigade, now headquartered in Jackson. Throughout his more than 26 years of service, Winstead has served in numerous assignments culminating as the senior staff judge advocate at the Joint Force Headquarters in Nashville.

Managing attorney Michele Johnson will succeed Gordon Bonnyman as executive director of the Tennessee Justice Center at the end of 2013.

Bonnyman and Johnson co-founded the organization 17 years ago to advocate for Tennessee’s vulnerable populations, particularly those struggling to find access to health care.
