2. Vrabel has coordinator’s back as fans look for offensive answers -

While change is inevitable in the NFL, don’t look for Titans coach Mike Vrabel to alter his core beliefs and personnel after the team’s hasty playoff exit.

That means Ryan Tannehill will be back under center in 2022. The team will not make a blockbuster deal for Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson should they become available.

3. Titans don’t have cash for free agent spending -

Where do they go from here? That is the biggest question regarding the Tennessee Titans in the immediate aftermath of their loss in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.

It is probably small consolation to the Titans that the upstart Cincinnati Bengals pulled another upset this past week in Kansas City to move on to Super Bowl LVI to face the Los Angeles Rams.

5. Uncertainty abounds in AFC South as Titans attempt to repeat -

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — There's more uncertainty than usual surrounding the AFC South, and it extends beyond Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The NFL's lone division with two playoff teams in each of the last four years is dealing with significant changes heading into the 2021 season. Two new head coaches, three new offensive coordinators, three new quarterbacks and several prominent cleats to fill could put the South's postseason streak in jeopardy.

Arthur Smith took the road less traveled in becoming an NFL head coach when he could have been on Easy Street.

24. Leaky defense must slow potent offense -

The Titans head to the proverbial Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field for a rare Sunday Night prime-time game, one circled as a highlight of the season since the 2020 schedule was announced.

In years past, any Titans game that wound up Sunday night was due to flex scheduling by the league. But this appearance is by design, and it will be a big order for the Titans to try and fill against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

25. Titans remember what they do best before AFC South rematch -

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans think they got back to what they do best, and that's just finding a way to win.

Just in the nick of time.

Losers of three of four and trailing 21-10 early in the third quarter, the Titans responded and at last looked like the team that won its first five games by taking four in the final two minutes of regulation or overtime. They scored 20 of the final 23 points in beating Baltimore 30-24 in overtime.

26. AP FACT CHECK: Trump's bogus claims about Biden win, vaccine -

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is rebelling against Democrat Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election with denial, delay and outright misrepresentation.

28. Can someone, anyone sack a quarterback? -

30. Titans have never reached these heights on offense -

The Tennessee Titans offense we have seen under Arthur Smith and Ryan Tannehill is unlike almost anything we have ever seen from this franchise.

For most of the two-plus decades the team has been on Tennessee soil, the Titans’ calling card has been defense. Keep the game close, let the defense keep you in it and then, maybe, kick a field goal at the end to win.

32. Talented Tannehill lets Titans flip the script -

There is no doubt that Derrick Henry commands the attention of opposing defenses. On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars were determined not to let Henry run roughshod over them the way he had so many times in the past, making them his personal highlight reel. Mission accomplished on that end for the Jacksonville defense that held the Titans star running back to 82 yards on 24 rushes.

34. Armed and even more dangerous -

As Derrick Henry goes, so go the Tennessee Titans. It’s really as simple as that. In playoffs and regular season games combined, when Henry rushes for 100 yards, the Titans are 13-0. That stat dates back to 2017, when Henry had the first 100-yard rushing game of his NFL career in a week six win over the Indianapolis Colts.

35. Titans, Ryan Tannehill working to build on offensive success -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee scored lots of points and piled up lots of yards with Ryan Tannehill at quarterback over the span of just 10 games.

The Titans now get to see how productive this offense can be with Tannehill under center from the start of the season.

36. Answer on who's calling Titans' defensive plays elusive -

NASHVILLE (AP) — The big question for months has been how Tennessee coach Mike Vrabel will replace defensive coordinator Dean Pees.

Three weeks before the Titans are scheduled to open the season, a final answer remains elusive.

37. Titans' Davis healthy, receiver ready to earn new contract -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Nobody expects more of Tennessee wide receiver Corey Davis than Davis himself.

The No. 5 pick overall in 2017, and the first receiver drafted that year, goes into his final season of his contract with the Titans after they declined to pick up his fifth-year option.

38. Humphries looking for better luck, more catches in 2010 -

Adam Humphries doesn’t look like your typical NFL player. Perhaps generously listed at 5-11, 195 pounds, Humphries said he is not often taken as an NFL player when he goes out in public.

The former Clemson star, who signed with the Titans as an unrestricted free agent last year, has gotten used to people not thinking of him as a football player.

39. Challenging road has QB eager to back up Titans' Tannehill -

53. Titans have to get Mariota, run game going in Atlanta -

The Titans try to get back on track in Atlanta this week after dropping two consecutive division games to the Colts and Jaguars in a span of five days. Perhaps the extra couple of days of preparation for the Falcons can help fix the ailments. It certainly couldn’t hurt. Here are our four keys for the Titans on Sunday.

54. Smith, Mariota's relationship could define Titans' season -

Somewhere in all the excitement of Sunday’s season-opening 43-13 victory in Cleveland, a very important, but perhaps under-appreciated occurrence took place that, if it keeps up, could help the Tennessee Titans throughout the 2019 season.

55. What to watch as Titans open preseason practice -

Last year: Coach Mike Vrabel just missed the playoffs in his debut season despite having enough issues to distract any veteran head coach. The Titans opened with the longest game (in overall time) in NFL history, losing top pass catcher TE Delanie Walker to season-ending injury in the process. Their most-experienced receiver, Rishard Matthews, was released at his demand, and DC Dean Pees was in hospital for the loss in Indianapolis. QB Marcus Mariota also missed three starts, including the season finale with a playoff berth on line.

56. Mariota's approach to final year of contract: 'Let it ride' -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Going into the final year of his rookie contract, Marcus Mariota hasn't changed anything about how he prepares for this season.

That includes no talk of holding out or public demands for a new contract. The Titans quarterback and 2014 Heisman Trophy winner prefers to show up and work hard during the voluntary offseason program to be the best he can be.

58. Eager Titans want to take next step, go from good to great -

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Titans are enjoying their best run since this franchise moved to Tennessee more than two decades ago, stringing together three straight 9-7 seasons.
