WASHINGTON (AP) — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol is asking social media and telecommunications companies to preserve phone or computer records for hundreds of people who were potentially involved with efforts to "challenge, delay or interfere" with the certification that day of President Joe Biden's victory or otherwise try to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Oops. I goofed last year. So did lots of other people who thought Tennessee’s football team would win the SEC East Division and go to the league championship game for the first time since 2007. I predicted the Vols would go 10-2 in the regular season, 6-2 in the SEC, tie Georgia for the East Division title, go to the SEC Championship Game, lose to Alabama for a second time and go to the Orange Bowl.

46. Preds, Pens, Sens, Ducks traded their way to NHL's final 4 -

Draft and develop is the most common way to win in the salary-cap NHL, and with eight of the past 11 playoff MVPs being homegrown, that hasn't changed.

But the four teams left vying for the Stanley Cup this spring — the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators in the East and Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks in the West — all made a handful of significant trades to get to this point. As much as general managers complain that it's hard to make deals because of the cap, Pittsburgh's Jim Rutherford, Ottawa's Bryan Murray and Pierre Dorion, Nashville's David Poile and Anaheim's Bob Murray have shown a knack for getting good ones done.

NASHVILLE (AP) - The state Senate is ready to vote on a $32.4 billion spending plan for the budget year beginning in July.

The Senate Finance Committee voted 9-2 on Wednesday to advance the budget plan to a full Senate vote. The plan removes previously planned salary increases for teachers and state employees to make up for flagging state revenue collections.
